A big thanks to all who have read my garden tips as I put down the pen.
A couple of years ago, freshly retired from The University of Tennessee as a Professor of Sustainable Landscape Design; I felt the strong urge to maintain some sense of relevancy. I began writing what was then a monthly gardening tip on my site https://garrymenendez.com/#homepage-02 Last year with my book A Home for Your Gnome nearing the finish line, I upped the frequency of these writings to weekly. As an author, I needed to gain a “platform” and a following. For those few that I’ve heard from, they know that my dart has hit a variety of topics related to all things gardeny.
As we careen towards 2025 it’s hard not to feel anxious about what another new year will bring. Personally, I choose to seek happiness and optimism. For most this is a challenge. My small piece of advice if you fall into this category is to turn off the “news” and give your phone a rest. Yeah, I know. Good luck with that!
Writing a blog for me has been another challenge. Make no mistake, I LOVE putting words to paper and sharing those with anyone who will read them. But at the same time, I have no idea as to the impact and worth of what I’m doing…especially when my social media skills lack the ability to track readership and engagement.
This all being said, I just wanted to thank ANYONE who has read my writings and maybe gotten a little bit out of it. After a little meditation, AKA – my daily morning walk, I’ve decided to put a thermometer in it and call it done. (Sorry, my metaphor box is getting a little empty). But who knows? If I hear from enough of you, I may pick up the pen and give it another whirl. At the very least, you know you can always bookmark my site https://ahomeforyourgnome.com/ and mine through it for something you didn’t know about gardening or landscape design. We all know that once in cyberspace things never go away!
With that I’ll finish and wish you all
“MERRY EVERYTHING!”
CHEERS!
